The latest release of PCTools Spyware Doctor 5.5 addresses a number of nettlesome software glitches we experienced with version 5.0. However, the free trial version is not fully functional--a fact you will discover only after downloading, installing, and then running a complete system scan.

In our trial scans, Spyware Doctor repeatedly flagged several dozen harmless cookies as potential threats, more than any other antispyware product we tested. We were also unable to learn more about each threat or why Spyware Doctor flagged each. Clicking each threat opened our default browser to a generic threat page on the PCTools site.

Should you decide to remove the Spyware Doctor trial, the uninstall process isn't clean, leaving behind traces of PCTools software in both the directory and in the system registry.

Spyware Doctor provides three-way spyware protection for your PC through real-time threat blocking, advanced system scanning and immunization against known browser infections.

Anti-virus software and firewalls do not fully protect your system against the majority of spyware and privacy threats.

When you consider the amount of valuable and confidential personal information stored on your PC, including credit card and banking details, private e-mails and documents, shopping and browsing habits, the risks of having software intruders snooping on your computer activity are obvious.

New features include a smaller and faster footprint than previous editions, meaning it will start more quickly and check for spyware in the background, without affecting your work. The new Intelli-scan feature will proactively search and find spyware within 3 minutes. Other highlights include advanced support for finding and eliminating rootkit, SiteGuard technology to prevent you from accessing malicious websites and various new modules, include a file and email guard.

Note that this is the official release of Spyware Doctor 6. New features included much improved spyware detection, enhanced system scanning, so your scans will finish far more swiftly.

Please give a little "Thanks" if you are going to download it. It is not difficult to spare just 5 sec.
